1. How many districts does Ho Chi Minh City have?
Before 2021, City. Ho Chi Minh includes 24 districts. Of these, there are 12 districts named according to numbers from 1 to 12. The remaining districts are named in letters. Since January 1st, 2021, Resolution 1111/NQ-UBTVQH14 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly regarding the merger of District 2, District 9 and Thu Duc District into Thu Duc City has officially come into effect. Additionally, Resolution 1111 also introduces some changes to the administrative units of the city as follows:
– District 3 merges wards 6, 7, 8 into Vo Thi Sau Ward.
– District 4 merges Ward 5 into Ward 2, merges Ward 12 into Ward 13.
– District 5 merges Ward 15 into Ward 12.
– District 10 merges Ward 3 into Ward 2.
– Phu Nhuan District: merges Ward 12 into Ward 11, merges Ward 14 into Ward 13.
With these aforementioned changes, Ho Chi Minh City now officially has 22 districts and 312 commune-level administrative units.
